George the third &.c  To all &.c  Know ye that for divers good Causes and ~ 
Considerations but more Especially for and in Consideration of the Sum of ~ 
Forty Shillings of good and Lawful Money for our use paid to our Receiver ~ 
General of our Revenues in this our Colony and Dominion of Virginia  We have 
Given Granted and Confirmed and by these Presents for us our Heirs and ~ 
Sucessors Do Give Grant and Confirm unto Thomas Emmerson one Certain ~ 
Tract or Parcel of Land containing four Hundred Acres lying and being ~ 
in the County of Albemarle on both sides the Bird Creek and bounded as ~ 
followeth, to wit, Beginning, at John Thurmonds Corner red Oak Saplin 
thence West one Hundred and seventy six Poles to Pointers 
North two hundred and sixteen Poles to a pine 
North fifty Degrees East one Hundred and sixty six Poles to a Pine Saplin 
East sixty Poles across the Bird Creek to Pointers 
South twelve Degrees East three Hundred Poles to a Pine 
South sixty seven Degrees West Eighty poles across the Bird Creek again to the 
first Station 
With all &.c  To have hold &.c  To be held &.c  Yielding & Paying &.c  
Provided &.c  In Witness &.c  Witness our Trusty and welbeloved John Earl of 
Dunmore our Lieutenant and Governor General of our said Colony and Dominion at 
Williamsburg under the Seal of our said Colony the first Day of March one 
Thousand seven Hundred and seventy three in the thirteenth Year of our Reign ~
