Deed of Land from Bartlett and Nancy (Black) Humphrey to Fountain Humphrey Fluvanna County, Virginia, Deed Book 5 OS, p. 137 & 138 This Indenture made and entered into this 20th of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and Eight between Bar.t Humphrey and Nancy his wife of Fluvanna County of the one part and Fountain Humphrey or the same County of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Bartlett Humphrey for and in consideration of the sum of One hundred Dollars to him in hand paid by the said Fountain the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge have bargain'd Sold and delivered unto the said Fountain Humphrey and to his Heirs and assigns forever one certain Tract or parcel of Land in the County aforesaid on the Waters of Cunnungham's Creek, on the South side of the North fork thereof containing by estimation Thirty Acres be the same more or less. [ ] the lines of David Jones, James Smith Christopher Isbell, thence a new line from Isbell's line to the Creek and thence down the Cruk agreeable to it meanders to the begining: To have to hold the said Land and Premises with the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise belonging unto the said Fountain Humphrey and to his Heirs and assigns forever We the said Bar.t Humphrey and Nancy will warrant and forever defend a good and lawful right and Title in fee Simple unto the said Land and premisses against the Claim of all and every other person or persons whatsoever. In Witness whereof the said Bartlett and Nancy have hereunto set their hands and affixed their Seal the date first above Written. This Deed was this day in open Court acknowledged by Bartlett Humphrey and Nancy his wife parties thereto to be their act, she the said Nancy being first privily examined as the Law directs and ordered to be recorded.
