Will of Caleb Stone, 1807 - Fluvanna Co. VA In the Name of God Amen, I Caleb Stone of the County of Fluvanna being of weak State of Body but of perfect mind and memory do make and ordain this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say.. First I give to my beloved wife for her better support and the support of my younger children during her natural life pr widowhood my land and my plantation on which I now live together with the following Slaves, to wit: Charles, Polley, Sprig, Little Polley, Amy, Elias, Jeffrey, Isaac, Milley, Poll?, Charlotte, Issey?, Gis? and Isham. 2nd I give unto my Sons Daniel and Caleb and their heirs forever my Tract of Land in Shepherd's Creek containing 570 acres to be equally divided between them according to value taking into consideration the improvements. 3rd I give unto my Sons John Ashlin and Augustine and their heirs forever the tract of land in which I now live containing 467 acres to be equally divided between them according to value taking into consideration the improvements. 4th I give unto my son William Taylor one dollar and Negro boy called Elias already advanced to him namely a Thousand Dollars. 5th I give to my son Thomas and heirs forever 228 acres of Land part of my read? Tract laid off for him on the upper part adjoining Sisle? 6th I lend to my Daughter Nancy Perry 140 acres of Land it being the lower lot of my Read Tract of land as layed off and surveyed to be possessed by her during her natural life and the natural life or widowhood or her present or future husband then to be equally divided among her children, if she has any and she has none, to be equally divided among all my children. 7th I lend to my Daughter Fanny 140 acres of Land it being the laid off next to her sister Nancy's to be possessed by her and any husband she may have upon the same terms and conditions as Nancy Perrys. 8th I lend to my Daughter Elizabeth 140 acres of Land being laid off next above her sister Fanny to be possessed by her and any husb and she may have on the same terms and conditions as Nancy Perrys. 9th I lend to my Daughter Lucy 140 acres of land it being laid off next above her sister Elizabeths to be possessed by her, and any husband she may have upon the terms and conditions as Nancy Perrys. 10th I lend to my Daughter Salley 140 acres of Land the lot laid off next above her sister Lucys and below the lot devised to my son Thomas to be possessed by her and any husband she may have upon the same terms as Nancy Perrys. 11th I lend to my five Daughters each one slave and her future increase to be possessed by them and upon the same terms and conditions as the will hold their lands, that is to say, To Nancy Perry I lend Hannah. To Fanny I lend ---?-. To Elizabeth I lend Lucy. To Lucy I lend Milley and to Salley I lend Phoebe. 12th I give to each of my Sons and Daughters not already furnished are horse, saddle and bridle, a feather bed and furniture, a Cow and Calf and 2 ewes and lamb. 13th I give to my son Daniel Negro Jacob. To my son Thomas I give David. To my son Caleb I give James. To my son Augustine I give George. To my son John Ashlin I give Spry to have and their heirs forever. 14th all the rest and residue of my Estate of what kind forever I give and bequeath to my beloved wife for her support and for the support of her children, during her natural life or widowhood and at her death or marriage, my Will and devise is that the same together with the slaves lent her shall be equally divided among all my Children, but they are to possess the Slaves upon the same terms and considerations as before mentioned respecting the lands lent them. Lastly I do nominate and appoint my friends John Ashlin, Doctor John Wills and my son Daniel Executors of this my last Will and Testament as witness my hand and seal this Twenty seventh day of January one thousand eight hundred and seven. Napier the witness thereto and ordered to be recorded and on the motion of John Wills and Daniel Stone, two of the executors therein named who made oath thereto as the law permits and entered into and acknowledged Bond in the penalty of Ten Thousand Dollars with Matthew Wills, Thomas Shores and Allan Barnard their Securities conditioned as the Law directs certified as granted them for obtaining a probate thereof in due form and is allowed the said Eexcutors therein named to Qualify thereof.
