Will of Rene Woodson, 1814 - Fluvanna Co. VA Fluvanna Co., VA, WB 2, page 272-273 In the name of God Amen. I Rene Woodson of Fluvanna County being in health and sound memory do make and ordain this my last will and Testament in manner and form as following __?__. I give to my daughter Sarah C. Cole the Negroes now in her possession and at her decease they and their increase to be equally divided amongst her children then living to them & their heirs forever. Item I give to my son-in-law William F. Mann, Sr. & his wife Elizabeth Booth the Negroes in their possession to them and their heirs forever. But in case the said Elizabeth B. Mann or Sarah C. Cole shall _?_ lay any claim to any part of the rest of my estate but what I have given them in this will they shall pay to my last children then living _?_, Nancy, Frankey, Martha, Caul(?), Polly, Jane, Keziah, Rebecca and Mildred Jordan five hundred pounds each. Item. I lend to my loving wife, Martha Woodson, two Negroes, viz Pompey (?) and Nell, one feather bed & furniture, two cows & calves, one horse and the land & plantation I now live on during her life and at her decease to be equally divided amongst my seven children Viz: Frankey, Martha, Caul, Jane, Keziah, Rebecca, Mildred Jorden. I give to each of my daughters that should be single at my death one Feather Bed & and one cow & calf and to my daughter Mildred Jordan _?_ young Black Mare Extraordinary. Item I give to my daughter Nancy Hughes one Negro woman _?_ Dile with all the other property that is in her possession which _?_ give her before to her and the heirs of her Boddy for-ever. Item. I give to my other seven daughters Viz Frankey, Martha, Polly, Jane, Keziah, Rebecca and Mildred Jordan the balance of my estate consisting of seven Negros Viz Peter, Lucy, Charles, Betty, Billy, Fanny, Jack together with all my stock of hogs, sheep, Cattle and horses all my household and Kitchen Furniture is to be equally divided amongst my last named seven daughters to them and their heirs forever. For my will and desire is that my Negros shall not be sold but valued & divided as above mentioned.
