Hankins-Campbell Cemetery - Franklin Co. VA Location: Snow Creek area Directions: From Martinsville, Virginia, Take the Figsboro Road North out of Martinsville, Virginia. Turn left onto Route 619 (first road before passing Snow Creek School), go about 3-4 miles, then turn right onto Mt. Carmel Road. After about 1/2 mile, the road will go downhill to a creek, before going down the hill, you'll see pasture land on the left with a stream in the valley (trees line the stream). The cemetery is located in a grove of trees about 500 yards from the main road. The old home-place is located about 400 yards down and to the left of the cemetery and near the creek. A Mr. Witcher ownes the land (in Oct 2000); his house is on the side of the road directly up from the home site. You should ask permission before going to the cemetery. It is easy to drive all the way to the cemetery by following the fence line to the left of Mr. Witcher's home, but you do have to go through at least one cattle fence (close the fence behind you) and you will be driving through high grass and lots of cow paddies. You can only get to the home-place by walk. Wear boots, jeans and other clothing that doesn't tear easily from thorns and the like. Description: Graveyard has four corner markers (small granite block with "C" on the top), and old chain link fence that has been pushed down flat and now mostly covered with vegetation, and a large granite cemetery marker with Hankins on one side and Campbell on the other side. -------- Graves: Henry F.
