All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ==================================================================== Franklin County, VA Deed Book 2 Pages 503, 504 This Indenture made this forth day of May one thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety three Between Isham Belcher of the County of Franklin and Elizabeth his wife of the one part and Richard Bowlin of the County aforesaid of the other part Witnefseth that the said Isham Belcher for and in Consideration of the Sum of one hundred and Thirty pounds Current money part in hand paid to him doth grant bargain and Sell to the said Richard Bowling and his heirs a tract of Land, Lying on the Branches of Poplar Camp Creek and Simmons Creek in the County aforesaid -- Containing by Estimation Two hundred and Eight acres be the same more or lefs and Counded as follows; to wit: Beginning at a Corner Locust Running north West Course by mark to trees to Heards old order Line-Thence along the old line partly north East Course to a Corner White Oak on the Indian Ridge Branch thence down the Same as it meanders to a C______ Whight Oka on Samuel Dillions line which was Formerly Heards thence with the old line west course to Poplar Camp as the mowed (?) connecting on a Beech thence Running up the Branch as it meanders south course to a Counish poplar on on William Austin Line thence west to Conner hickery continnuing west Crofsing's Branch to a Conner Hickery thence South to a C_____ Chesnut on Allercoll's line thence South East to a Corner Read Oak thence with Allarcall's line East Course to a Cumer Chesnut which is laid doon in John Smith's Coloarces (?) Ground, thence north East Course to the Beginning together with all its apperinances to have and to hold the Said Tract of Land with its apportencanses to the sale use of said Richard Bowling his heirs and afsigns and the Said Isham Belcher and his heirs forever warrant and defend the said Tract of Land with its apperdinances to the Said Richard Rowlin and his heirs against the Claims of all persons whatsoever in witnefs whereof the Isham Belcher and Elizabeth his wife _____ unto ______ - their names and affefsed their Seals the day and year a bove mention....Signed Sealed and Delivered in the presence of. his Isham X Belcher SS mark Elizabeth III (slash across) Belcher SS mark Memorandum that on the day and year within ________....Savery X Saison of the within Mentioned Land with its apportenances made to the within Richard Rowlace by the within _______ Isham Belcher agreeable to the within Mentioned deed - Signed Sealed and Delivered in the presence of his Isham + Belcher SS mark her Elizabeth X Belcher SS mark At a Court held for Franklin County In April 1793 the within Indenture Together with the memorandum of Senery and Saison was acknowledged by the within named Isham Bellcher to be his act and deed and Elizabeth the wife Being Prively Examed separate and apart from her husband Relinquishing her Rights of dower in and to said Land and the same was ordered to be Recorded.
