Franklin County, Virginia deed book 3, p. 608 Names in this record: CALLAWAY, James ?KEY, William KINSEY, Jacob LEMMON, Salome ?MURAY PERY, Jacob RENTFRO, James, William ?WADE ?WIMMER, Abraham, Jacob Salome Lemmon to Jacob Kinsey, _ October 1797, 143 acres on Bush Run page 608 This Indenture, made this ____ day of October Seventeen hundred & ninety seven Between Salome Lemmon of the County of Franklin of the one part and Jacob Kinsey of the County aforesaid of the other Part Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of sixty pounds Current money of Virginia to him in hand paid the receipt whereof the said Lemmon acknowledgeth there is by the said Lemmon Granted Bargained Sold and Conveyed unto the said Kinsey one Certain tract or Parcel of Land Laying and being in the County of Franklin on both sides of Bush Run containing one hundred and forty ?three acres (be the same more or less), Viz. Beginning at a large Chesnut tree Corner in the land patent for the name of James Rentfro, thence by a dividing line north seventy two degrees west one hundred and fifty five poles to Pointers in ?Muray Line thence a long his line south, twelve degrees west one hundred and twenty Eight poles to William Rentfro Corner Red oak thence off north Eighty five degrees East forty Eight poles to a Hickory in said Patent land across the said Bush Run thence south eighty degrees East ninety poles to a Read Oak thence north Twenty degrees East forty four poles to ?Wades Corner Read oak and north fifteen degrees west one hundred and Seventy poles to the Beginning with the Appurtenances to have and to hold the above Granted Land and Premises unto Kinsey his heirs & assigns forever in fee simple and the said Lemmon doth for herself and her heirs Covenant and agree to and with the said Kinsey his heirs and assigns to warrant and forever defend the above granted Land and Premises from the Claim or demand of any Person or Persons whatsoever unto the said Kinsey his heirs and assigns forever. In Witness whereof the said Lemmon hath hereunto set her hand and Caused her seal to be affixed on the day and year first above Written In Presence of William ?Key Abraham Jacob ?Wimmer Jacob Pery Solome Lemmon her mark At a Court held for Franklin County in December 1797 this written Indenture was proved by the oath of one of the Witnesses thereto subscribed to be the act and Deed of the within named Salome Lemmon and the same was Ordered to be Certified- And at a Court held for said County the same was further proved by the Oath of two other Witness and the same was Ordered to be Recorded by the Court Test James Callaway Clk.
