Witnesseth that the said Daniel Ward for and in consideration of the sum of Seventy Five dollars cash to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath given granted bargained and sold unto the above named Asa Ward one certain lot or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Franklin containing forty acres be the same more or less and bounded as follows to wit: Beginning at a Chestnut on the River thence off south 15 D West 130 poles to a Post Oak S 26 D East 4 poles to a small Gum S 62 D West 22 poles to Red Oak S 80 D West 24 poles to the Creek thence down the same as it meanders to the River thence down the same as it meanders to the beginning to have and to hold the above bounded land together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging which land I warrant and forever defend unto the said Asa Ward his heirs and assigns forever, as Witness my Hand and Seal the day and date above written in presence of; Teste; Daniel Ward (seal) Acknowledged in our Presence D. D. Foute, Joel Dyer State of Tennessee] Blount County] April 11, 1827 This day came Daniel Ward before us William Williamson and Samuel Hammill acting justices in and for said County and acknowledged the execution of the foregoing Deed of Conveyances for the purposes therein contained. Justices; Wm. Williamson Samuel Hammill State of Tennessee] I, Jacob F. Foute Clerk of the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions of Blount County Tenn Do hereby certify that William Williamson and Samuel Hammill Equire before whom the within Deed was acknowledged and whose signatures appear on the Certificate of said Acknowledgement was at the time of the date thereof acting Justices of the Peace duly commissioned and sworn in and for Blount County and that full faith and Credit due to their official acts as such. Foute At Court held for Franklin County 7 May 1827 this Indenture of Bargain and Sale between Daniel Ward of the one part and Asa Ward of the other part was exhibited and together with the certificate hereon endorsed ordered to be recorded. Daniel Ward Sr. died 29 Jan 1826 in Franklin Co., VA and Daniel Ward Jr. was selling land inherited from his father's estate to brother Asa Ward.
