Rocky Mount, March 27 dateline. Burned almost beyond recognition, the body of George McAlexander, 62, was found today in the ruins of an old mill at Shooting Creek, near Endicott, in Franklin County. The mill was burned during the night. Franklin county authorities were conducting an investigation today in an effort to determine whether McAlexander’s death was the result of foul play. Search was being made for an man whose name was not divulged and in whose company McAlexander was reported to have been last seen. Both men were said to have been drinking, according to Commonwealth’s Attorney, C. C. Lee, who with Dr. N. T. Greer, coroner, conducted an investigation. It was reported to the authorities McAlexander and his companion were seen about he time the mill fire was discovered. Identification of the body was established by means of the teeth.
