Franklin County Marriage Records
Know all me by these present that the Zachariah Ellis and Wesley Mattas 
(name is only a guess, I can't read it well) are held and firmly bond unto 
John Page Esquire Governor or Chief Magistrate of the Commonwealth of 
Virginia in the sum of one hundred fifty dollars to the payment whereof were 
seventy to be made to the the said Governor and his successors. We bond 
ourselves jointly and personally firmly by these presents sealed with the 
seals this 12th day of August 1809.    The condition of the above obligation 
is such that whereas there is a marriage shortly intended to be had and 
solemnized between the above bound Zachariah Ellis and Linda Dehaven. Now if 
there should be no lawful cause to obstruct the said marriage then the above 
obligation to be the union in full force forever.
