VA Know all men by these Presents that We Otey Divers and Davis Ferguson are held and firmly bound unto James Pleasants Jr. Esquire Governor, or chief Magestrate of the Common wealth of Virginia in the sum of One hundred and fifty Dollars Current Money of the United States, to the payment whereof we are truly to be made to the said Governor or his successors for the use of the Common Wealth aforesaid, We bind ourselves and each of us our and each of our heirs executors, and administrators jointly and severally firmly by these Presents, sealed with our Seals and dated this 20th day of May 1823 The Condition of the above obligation is such that Whereas the above bound Otey Divers hath this day obtained from the Clerks of the County Court of Franklin a Licence for his Intermarriage with Terissa/Teressa Ferguson of the said County Now this Indenture Witnefseth, that if there shall be no lawful cause to obstruct the said Marriage then this Obligation to be void, else to remain in full force and Virtue Signed: Otey Divers (Seal) Davis Ferguson (Seal) Witnef Ro__ Dickerson/Dickenson (Submitter Note: There is a crease where the date should be.
