Parker/Dewitt Marriage Bond, 1841 - Franklin Co. VA Know all men by those present where in Archibald Dewitt and William P. Scott are held and firmly bound unto Thomas W. Gilmer Esq. Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia and his successors in office, in the just and full sum of one hundred and fifty dollars which payment will and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, or heirs, executors, and administrators, jointly and severally firmly by those present, sealed with our seal and dated this 2nd day of April, 1841. The condition of the above obligation is such that where as the above bound Archibald Dewitt hath this day obtained from the Clerk of the County Court of Franklin, a license for the intermarriage with Tiney Parker of said County. Now if there shall be no lawful cause to obstruct said marriage then the above obligation to be void else to remain in full force and virtue. Archibald X Dewitt his mark William X P.
