Nicholas esquire Governor Chief Magistrate of the CommonWealth of Virginia in the sum of one hundred fifty Dollars current money of the United States, the payment whereof well and truly to be made to the said Governor and is successors for the use of the CommonWealth we bind ourselves, and each of us, our, and each of our heirs, executors and administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by these Presents, Sealed with our Seals, and dated this 3d day of January 1817 The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas there is a Marriage shortly intended to be had and Solemnized between the above bound Littleberry Vest and Sally James Now if there shall be no lawful cause to obstruct the said Marriage then the above obligation to be void, else to remain in full force & Virtue.
