Soldier-8th Virginia Regiment 
Frederick County

I do with advice of the Council hereby certify that John Smith aged about 40 
years, late a private in the 8th Virginia Regiment and whose pay was at the rate 
of 24 pounds per annum was wounded while in the service of the United States  
and that he is allowed the sum of 12 pounds yearly; which allowance is 
accordingly made him to commence on the first day of January 1786.  Given under 
my hand as this 12th day of July 1786.  Signed: P. Henry
