I Thomas Rees of the County of Frederick in the Colony of Virginia being of Present Sick and weak of Body yet of Perfect mind and memory; Thanks be to almighty God and calling to mind the uncertainty of this frail and mortal Life and that it is appointed for all men once to Die and after Death to come to Judgement Do make and ordain this my Last will and Testament in manner and form following (viz) First and principally I recommend my soul to almighty God my Creator who gave it Trusting alone in the Precious Death and merits of my Blessed Saviour and Redeemer Jesus Christ for Free pardon and forgiveness for all my sins and to inherit Eternal Life and Salvation and my body to the ground from whence it was taken to be Decently Buried at the discretion of my executors herein after named. And as for such worldly goods and estate with which it has pleased almighty God Imprimis I will that all my Just Debts and funeral charges be fully paid satisfied Item I give and bequeath to my beloved Grandson Gideon Rees eldest son of my eldest son Henry Rees Dec’d the sum of three shillings sterling having given his said Father a full portion of my land and in his Lifetime Item I give and bequeath to my beloved son Robert Rees my Dwelling House and plantation together with all the Land thereunto belonging which I do possess. To him his heirs and assigns forever after the decease of his mother my loving wife Margaret Rees I give and bequeath to my said Loving wife Margaret Rees for (and during her natural life) my said Dwelling House and Plantation together with all my movable Estate. Item I give and bequeath to my beloved son Solomon Rees the sum of five pounds current money to be paid to him out of my movable estate after the decease of his said mother, to him his heirs and assigns Item I give and bequeath to my three daughters (viz) Jane Moon Margaret Rees and Mary Brabson to each of them the like sum of five pounds current money to be paid to them after the decease of my said wife Margareet Rees out of my said estate by my said son Robert Rees. To them their heirs and assigns. And for any Movable Estate that may remain after the decease of my wife Margaret and paying the aforesaid legacies I give to my said son Robert Rees his heirs and assigns having already given all my other sons their portion of my estate and Lands. And lastly I do hereby constitute ordain and appoint my said loving wife Margaret Rees and my well beloved said son Robert Rees Joint Executors of this my last will and Testament revoking and making void all former and other wills Testaments Legacies and Executors by me before made Ratifying and confirming this only to be my las will and Testament in manner and form aforesaid. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the 28th day of November 1776 his Thomas TR Rees Mark Sign sealed and acknowledged by the testator to be his last will and testament in presence of William Gossett Thomas Riley Morgan Morgan Frederick County Virginia Be it known to all whatever it may concert that I Thomas Rees of the said County and State do hereby give and bequeath to my within names son Robert Rees himself his heirs and assigns forever my Right Title Interest Claim and Demand of and in and to a Certain Plot of Ground containing about Three acres or be the same more or less lying and being in Chester Town in Chester County in the State of Pennsylvania with all the Buildings and Improvements of thereon, as full and ____ manner as if the same had been expressed in the body of this my Last will and Testament and Ratifying allowing and confirming this as a part of my will and testament In witness whereof I the said Thomas Rees have hereunto set my hand and seal this fifth day of April 1783 Signed sealed and acknowledged by the Testator to be a part of his last will and testament in presence of Thomas Rees Joseph Mooney Jeremiah Booth Joseph Adams At a Court held for Frederick County the 7th day of March 1785 This Last will and Testament of Thomas Rees Deceased was proved by the oath of Joseph Money and Joseph Adams two of the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of Robert Rees the executor therein named who made solemn affirmation thereto being one of the People called Quakers.
