He is the brother of the famous Rev. War hero Maj-Gen Adam Stephen of Berkeley County now WV. He left land to his brother John Stephen in Fredereick County in his will. I am seeking ANY information on John Stephen. Submitted for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Randy Haynes Alexander Stephen's Will In the Name of God Amen, I, Alexander Stephens of the County of Frederick Being very Sick but of Perfect Mind and Memory thanks be given unto God Calling unto Mind the Mortality of my Body and Knowing that it is appointed for all men to die make and ordain this My Last Will and Testament, that is to say Principally and first of all I give and Recommend My soul into the Hands of Almighty God that gave It and my Body I Recommend to the Earth to be Buried in Decent Christian Burial at the Discretion of My Executors nothing Doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall Receive the same again by the Mighty Power of God. And as touching such Worldly Estate with which it has pleased God to Bless me with in this Life I Give and Demise and Dispose of in the following Manner and Form. First, I give and Bequeath to my Brother Adam My Sword and Sheath if he chooses to accept them.- I also give and Bequeath unto my Brother John all of my Lands both Deeded and Undeeded with my Negro fellow Ambrose and all my servants for the time they have to serve and all the Utensils that I had Provided for House Keeping and Horse and Saddle out of which he is to pay my Bond to Mr. Hodge for Twenty-Six Pounds and my Acct. with Mr. Allison and What other Trifles there may be owing. I give and Bequeath to my Brother Robert my Brother Adam's Bond to me for Sixty Pounds Sterling. But Desires that he may received fifty as the Col. has had some trouble with me, and I likewise Leave him my Watch and half of my Wearing Apparel and Beg it as the Last favour of his Lordship and Col. Martin that they would let him have the Collection of the County. I Likewise give and Bequeath to my two Sisters thee Forty Pounds that is in my Agents hands in London to be equally Divided Between them. And as I leave my Brother John Whole Executor begs he will do them Justice. I also Leave the forty Pounds that is by me to pay the Funeral Charges and the Rest to Mrs. Phebe Seamans as Jonathan told me that he would live and leave? I paid her as him. I likewise her my God Buttons and my Buckles. In Witness Whereof I hereunto met my hand and Seal this 12th Day of Jany 1768.
