He met (1) MISS FARLEY abt. 1783. He married (2) MARY POLLY CONLEY 5 June 1792 in Montgomery Co. Virginia. She was born abt. 1775 and died bef. 1850 in Giles Co., Virginia. Notes for ZACHARIAH URIAH PERDUE: Zachariah Perdue was probably the youngest son of William Perdue by unknown? William settled his family along Wolf Creek off New River in Montgomery County, Virginia where he operated a Mill on Perdue's Branch. This area was considered the Virginia frontier. According to the 1788 tax list for Montgomery Co., VA Zachariah Perdue was living on his own. It appears he had a prior relationship before his marriage to Mary Conley 5 June 1792 in Montgomery Co., VA. Zachariah and Ezekiel are the only Perdues living in Giles County, VA in 1806. Ezekiel owned no land or livestock while Zachariah paid Personal Property tax on three horses. In 1797 Richard Blankenship filed a lawsuit against Zachariah for the return of a horse he lost. Zachariah Perdue found the horse and according to Blankenship knew who owned the mare but refused to return it. Finally in August 1799 the court ordered the Sheriff of Montgomery County to recover from the goods and chattels of Zachariah Perdue his debt to Richard Blankenship. It would appear Zachariah's "temper" was passed along to each son who all had "run ins" with the Commonwealth mainly "for breach of peace". In 1810 Zachariah was included in the federal census for Giles County along with his wife and ten children (five boys and five girls). In 1815 Zachariah was living along the south side of Wolf Creek and Five Mile Fork. There were two males over 16 years in the home and he owned four horses and three cows. There are two land patents recorded for Zachariah in Mercer County in 1849. The first for 350 acres adjoining his own survey of 275 acres and the other for 375 acres. Mary Conley Perdue died sometime after 1850 and Zachariah was 100 years old living with his son Samuel in 1860. Zachariah wrote His Will 28 Sept 1862 in Giles Co., VA and it was presented for probate February 1863. "Know all men by these presents that I Uriah Perdew of the County of Giles and state of Virginia do hereby make and constitue this my last Will and Testament, 1st I desire and give to my sons Conley and John Perdue all my lands lying in the county of Giles on the North side of East River Mountain one hundred acres more or less, 2nd in the event my son John Perdue shall die without ligitimate offspring, then John's interest in said lands shall descend to my son Conly Perdew the lands I herein devise and give to them by this my last Will and Testament shall descend to their children to have and to keep or dispose of at their option, 4th I bequeath to my son John Perdue all my personal property which I may be possessed of at my decease, 5th one of the obligations of this my last Will and Testament is that my sons Conly and John Perdue shall support me during my lifetime and after my decease pay all my funeral expenses at their cost, 6th I appoint my friend Elisha G. Duncan my executor of this my last Will and Testament. Witness my hand and seal this 29 Day of Sept 1862. Signed Uriah (hisXmark) Perdue Witness Elisha G.
