GILES COUNTY, VA - DEEDS - Robert & Martha Clendenen to Henry Gore, 25 Nov 1817 ----¤¤¤---- THIS INDENTURE made this 25th day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and Seventeen between Robert Clendenen & Martha his wife of the County of Giles and State of Virginia of the one part and Henry Gore of the County and State aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that the said Robert Clendenen & Martha his wife for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars to them in hand paid by the above named Henry Gore the Receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge hath Bargained & sold and by these presents doth give grant bargain sell deliver and Confirm unto the above named Henry Gore and his heirs forever two tracts or parcels of Land adjoining Each other and containing both together three hundred and fifty acres by Survey lying and being in the County of Giles on Island creek a branch of New River the first Survey containing one hundred & fifty nine acres be the same more or less and bounded as followeth towit BEGINNING at a hycory & two white oaks and Running N 28o west 34 poles crossing a Run to a white oak N 54o E 130 ps to a white oak N 10o W 50 ps to a black oak in a hollow N 26 E 30 ps to a black oak N 46 w 20 ps to hycory & white oak N 53o E 48 ps to a black oak & white oak S 42 E 76 ps crossing a branch to two white oaks N 74o E 60 poles to a black oak N 24 E 42 ps to a black oak S 43o E 72 ps crossing a branch to a white oak S 5 w 30 ps to a white oak S 88 E 64 ps to two white oaks on the top of a ridge S 70 W 386 ps to the BEGINNING the Second tract and joining the first containing one hundred & ninety one acres and bounded as followeth to wit BEGINNING at a large white oak corner to the first Tract and with a line thereof N 10 w 34 ps to a black oak & white oak sapling N 53 w 64 ps to a white oak & dogwood S 84 w 46 ps to a large Chesnut oak & white oak Sapling S 45 w 90 ps to a white & black oak by a pond on a ridge S 67 w 58 ps to two black oaks & white oak S 16 E 156 ps to two Chesnut oaks by a Cleft S75 E48 ps to three white oak Saplings by the point of a ridge N 48 E 92 ps to a white oak on a steep hillside N 57 w 23 ps to a hycory and two white oaks N28 w 234 ps crossing the branch to a white oak N 34 E 136 poles to the BEGINNING with their appurtenances to have and to hold the above Said tracts or parcels of Land with Each & every of their appurtenances to the said Henry Gore and his heirs forever and the before mentioned Robert Clendenen and Martha his wife doth for themselves and their heirs forever warrant and defend the Right and title of the before mentioned tract of Land to him the Said Henry Gore and his heirs forever from themselves their heirs and all & every other person or persons whatever in testimony whereof the said Robert Clendenen & Martha his wife have hereunto Set their hands and affixed their seals the date above written Signed Sealed and Delivered in the presence off Robert Clendenen (Seal) Martha Clendenen (Seal) At Giles March Court 1818 This deed from Robert Clendenen and Martha his wife to Henry Gore which had been acknowledged before the Clerk in his office on the 25th day of November 1817 and Returned into Court and order to be Recorded Teste David French CGC ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
