GILES COUNTY, VA - DEEDS - Henry & Susanna Gore to Robert Gore, 24 Jan 1820 ----¤¤¤---- This Indenture made the 24th day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty between Henry Gore and Susanna his wife of the county of Giles and State of Virginia of the one part and Robert Gore of the county and State aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that the said Henry Gore and Susanah his wife for and in consideration of the Sum of Eight hundred dollars in hand paid by the said Robert Gore the receipt whereof is hereby acknowdedged have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Robert Gore his heirs and assigns one certain tract or parcel of Land lying and and being in the County of Giles on Stony Run a branch of Island Creek and containing two hundred and seventeen acres by Survey bearing date the 20th day of March 1787 when the County of Giles was then Mongomery for which there was a grant or patten issued to Alexander Stewart bearing date the 12 day of September 1793 and the said Alexander Stewart Deeded the aforesaid Land to the sd Henry Gore by deed which is duly recorded in the clerks office of Giles County and is bounded as followeth towit BEGINNING at two white oaks near to Adam Clendenens corner South fifty six poles to a white oak South 88 W 20 poles crossing the Run to a hickory S 18 E 40 poles to an ash South 57 degrees E 46 poles crossing a branch to two hickories north 72 degrees E 164 to a poplar and Sugar tree north 30 (32?) degrees E 116 poles to a white oak and dogwood north 31 degrees W 124 poles to a black oak South 78 degrees W 46 poles to a white oak north 71 degrees W 60 poles to a white oak South 30 degrees west one hundred and Sixty Eight poles to the BEGINNING together with all and Singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of Land with its appurtenances unto the said Robert Gore his heirs and assigns forever and the sd Henry Gore and Susanah his wife for their heirs Executors and administrators do covenant with the said Robert Gore his heirs and assigns that they the said Henry Gore and Susanah his wife their heir executors and administrators the Said two hundred and Seventeen acres of Land with its appurtenances unto the said Robert Gore his heirs and assigns against the claim or claims of them the said Henry Gore and Susanah his wife their heirs and of all end every person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents In witness whereof the Said Henry Gore and Susanah his wife have hereunto set their hands and Seals on the day and year first above written in the presence of Henry Gore (Seal) Susanna Gore (Seal) Monroe County towit we William McDaniel & Conrad Peters Magistrates in and for the county of Monroe do hereby certify that Henry Gore and Susanah Gore his wife parties to the within deed of of conveyance did come personally before us on this day and acknowledged the Same to be their act and deed She the said Susanah being first privately examined Separate and apart from her sd husband the same being fully explained to her relinquished her rights of dower and declared that She did willingly Sign Seal and deliver the same and that she did not wish to retract it and desired us us to certify this their acknowledgement to the clerk of the county court of Giles in order that this conveyance from them to Robert Gore may be recorded Given under our hand & Seals this 24th day of January 1820 William McDaniel (Seal) Conrad Peters (Seal) At Giles March Court 1820 This deed from Henry Gore & Susanna his wife to Robert Gore which had been acknowledged before two Justices of the peace and returned into Court and ordered to be recorded Teste David French CGC ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
