GILES COUNTY, VA - DEEDS - James and Elizabeth Dunn to Henry Gore, 15 Oct 1831 ----¤¤¤---- THIS INDENTURE made this 15th day of October in the year of of our lord one thousand eight hundred and (sic) between James Dunn and Elizabeth his wife of the County of Giles and State of Virginia of the one part and Henry Gore of the County and State aforesaid of the other part WITNESSETH that the Said James Dunn and Elizabeth his wife for and in consideration of the Sum of Six hundred dollars to them in hand paid by the above named Henry Gore before the delivery of these presents have bargained and sold and by the presents do bargain sell deliver and confirm unto the above named Henry Gore and his heirs forever two certain tracts or parcels of land Containing four hundred and four acres, be the same more or less, viz one tract or Survey of Eighty acres granted unto Alexander Stewart lying and being in the County of Montgomery, now Giles on the left hand fork of Island Creek the waters of New River, and bounded as follows towit BEGINNING at two black oaks and a white oak thence N 57o W thirty eight poles to a white oak N 24 W thirty eight poles to a chesnut on the top of a hill S 56o W one hundred and forty eight poles to two white oaks and a poplar S 2 W thirty six poles to three black oaks S 53o E fifty poles to two hickories N 58o E one hundred poles to a black oak on the top of a ridge N 86 E Seventy three poles crossing the left hand fork of Island Creek to a poplar and sugar tree N 34o W forty poles to lthe beginning, also another tract or Survey of three hundred and twenty four acres Granted unto _____________________________ lying and being in the County of Montgomery, now Giles on the dividing ridge between the _____ of Clendennings fork of Island Creek and Adairs run and bounded as followeth towit. BEGINNING at a chesnut and red oak on the top of ridge and running thence N 64o W Sixty six poles to two white oaks on the south side of a hill S 52o W one hundred and ninty four poles to a white oak and red oak on the side of a hill S 75o W Eighty eight poles to a black oak and white walnut N 52 W ninty eight poles to a hickory and white oak on the end of a ridge N 28o E sixty eight poles to a white oak and iron wood on the north side of a hill N 49o E ninty poles to a hickory and ________ on a flat N 50o W forty poles to a white oak and chesnut on a flat ridge N 49o E one hundred and forty four poles to two chesnuts by the edge of a hill and S 44o E two hundred and seventy poles to the beginning - with all their appurtenances to have and to hold the said tracts or parcels of land with their appurtenances to the above named Henry Gore and his heirs for ever and the said James Dunn and Elizabeth his wife do for themselves and their heirs do warrant and for ever defend the right and title of the above described land with the appurtenances thereto to the above named Henry Gore and his heirs for ever against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons Whatsoever.
