VIRGINIA: In the Clerk's Office, Circuit Court of Giles County. WILL OF JOSEPH HETHERINGTON, DECEASED I, Joseph Hetherington of the County of Giles and State of Virginia being weak in body but of sound memory due hereby make and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, To-wit: I desire that my body be decently interred and my soul I recommend to the mercy of God through our Lord Jesus Christ and my worldly property as follows - First My home place consisting of two tracts of land containing about 184 acres I desire to be divided at my decease between my wife Catharine and my son Christopher, The survey or tract the house is on I give to my Catharine and on the decease of my wife I do give and bequeath the whole of the aforesaid home place to my son Christopher to hime and his heirs forever. 2nd I do give and bequeath to my sons George and John my tract of land lying on the south of the buckeye on the bearspring containing 300 acres equally. 3rd I do give and bequeath to my daughter Susannah, Nancy and Elizabeth all my ready money as due by bonds and otherwise as it may be collected and they may require it equally. 4th I do give and bequeath to my wife Catharine at my decease all my live stock, such as horses, cattle, hogs and that she may divide among her three daughters as she may think proper. Also my house hold and kitchen furniture, I give to my wife to be divided by her as she may deem proper. 5th I do give and bequeath to my sons George, John and Christopher equally my waggon (sp.) and gearing, also my black smith tools. 6th I do give all my farming tools to my wife Catharine and my son Christopher to be left on the place for their use and benefit. And lastly I do hereby appoint my sons George and John as the Executors of this my last Will and testament, hereby revoking all other wills heretofore made in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this third day of October in the year of our Lord, 1844.
