Will of William Link, 1863 - Giles Co. VA Will Book 4, p. 305 I William Link of Giles County and State of Virginia being vary week in body of Sound and disposing mind and memory thanks be to God for his Mercass. I do make Constitute and Ordain this my last will and Testament first of all I commend my soul to God who gave it and my body to the Earth from whence it came to be decently buried in Christian like manner and directing how the estates with which it has pleased God to bless me shall be disposed of after my decease. I thus bequeath and dispose thereof in the Manner following to Wit 1. My will is that all my Just debts and funeral charges Shall by my exeutor herein after named, be paid out of my estate as soon after my decease as shall by him be found Convenient. 1. I do give and bequeath to my son James Milton Link a part of the land that I live on to wit beginning at the Creek and Runing a strate line with the Orchard fence east of the same to the Old Road, thence with the John Hunter fence to the west Corner thence a strate line to the top of the Mountain to my line thence - west my line opposit the branch East of William B. Smith house where he now lives thence a strate line down the Mountain to the same and with the same to the Dave Sarver house. East with Sarvers and J. H. Porterfield lines to the Creek thence up the creek opposit the fence and with same to Charles H. Payne line at the Hamblin house and with Paynes line to Andrew Williams and with the same Crossing the creek to the beginning. 2. I do give and bequeath to my daughter Nancy Johnston one thousand Dollars to be paid to her in two equal payments in five and ten years after my decease, and I do will and ordain that my son James Milton pay of the legacy I have willed to him the above named sum and if he Shall fail to pay the same his land shall be Claimed for the same. 3. I do give and bequeath to my three daughters, Susaner, Arrena Cristina, and Manervy Ann Smith all the Remainder of my lands to be equelly divided between them and if they cannot agree in a dividsion the land shall be divided by three disinterested men and they shall draw for ther part. I do will and bequeath that the part that may fall to Manervy Ann Smith shall go to her heres-- 4. I do give and bequeath to my daughter Rebecca Nine hundred dollars to be paid by my three daughters, Susaner, Arrena Cristina, and Manervy Ann Smith or if they will surport her in a desent manner they shall retaine and be entitled to the Nine hundred Dollars and I do further direct if My three Daughters fale to surport and keep in a desente manner My daughter Rebecca my Executor shall Collect and apply the money to her surport. I do devise and bequeath to my beloved wife Mary Link a desent mantenance off my lands during her Natural life. I give devise and bequeath to my beloved wife and two daughters, Susaner, Arrena Cristina, and my son James Milton all the Rest and Residue of my personal estate whatsoever and of what nature and quality the same may be and not herein before disposed of (after payment of my debts and funeral expenses). I also give to my beloved wife and three single daughters Susaner, Arrena Cristina, and Rebeca the priveleage of Remaining in the house where I now live during there single life and Lastly, I do appoint Absolom Fry, my trusty friend my executor of this my last will and testament with full power to convey and mak Sufficient Rights that I have given this my last will and testament where I have herein to set my hand affixed my seal this the 22 day of December 1863. Sealed and published and delivered as and for the last will and testament of the above named William Link in the presents of as Attest Samuel Lucas David Sarver Madison H. Lucas His William X Link mark Virginia In the County Court of Giles County, February term 1864. The last will and testament of William Link deceased was this day presented in Court proved by the oaths of Samuel Lucas and David Sarver, two of subscribing witnesses thereunto ordered to be recorded.
