Samual Lemay Sr to William LeMay of Hanover
25 December 1809, Goochland Co., VA

This indenture made this twenty fifth day of December, eighteen hundred and
nine, between Samuel LeMay of Goochland county of the one part and William
LeMay of Hanover County of the other part, Witnesseth that for the sum of
six shillings in hand paid by the sd William LeMay the receipt whereof I do
hereby acknowledge hath bargained and sold unto the said William LeMay one
certain tract r parcel of land lying and being in Goochland County and
bounded by the lines of Thos. Miller, the three chopt road, thence up to
Licken hole creek on the hill side for some distance, thence with the creek
to come back on Jno Longs land which corner is now down, thence with the
Nelly Walkers line containing one hundred and eighty four acres and one
quarter of an acre be the same more or less, and I Samuel LeMay do warrant
and will forever defend the rite and title of the above mentioned land with
all the appurtainces there unto belonging unto the sd William LeMay and his
heirs forever, clear from myself my heirs, exrs and all and every other
person or persons claims or titles whatsoever.  In Testamony whereof I have
this day & date above written, set my hand and affixed my seal in the

I William LeMay do oblige myself, my heirs, upon admrs &c under the penalty
of two thousand dollars to be paid to Samuel Lemay or to his heirs, exrs, &c
that I knever will trouble my father Samuel LeMay during his lifetime on
account of his living on the sd tract cald 124 acres whereon the dwelling
house now stands, that he my sd father may tend the sd tract so long as he
lives grattise, and that my sister Diana LeMay shall have the sd 124 acres
of land as a home during her single life grattise without any interruption
by me or my heirs, exrs, admrs &c and that I do bind myself my heirs, exrs,
admrs in the same penalty of two thousand dollars to the sd Diana Lemay not
to disturb her during her single life, knoe wast of timber is to be
committed on the 124 acres of land neither by Samuel Lemay nor by Diana
LeMay.  As Witness my hand seal this 25th day of Decr 1809.  Enterlind (sic)

At a monthly sessions court held for Goochland County at the Courthouse on
Monday the 19th day of Feb'y 1810.  This deed was presented in court and
proved by the oath of William Turner to be the act and deed of Samuel LeMay
a party thereto, and ordered to be certified, and the bond thereon written
also proved by the oath of William Turner to be the act and deed of William
LeMay a party thereto, and also ordered to be certified.  ~ And at a monthly
sessions court held for Goochland County at the Courthouse on Monday the
16th day of April 1810.  This deed was again presented in court and
acknowledged by Samuel LeMay a party thereto to be his act and deed and
ordered to be recorded with the obligation of Wm LeMay thereto annexed.
