Matthew Lowry, Jr.
Goochland Co., VA Documents

This Indenture made the first day of February one thousand eight hundred and
twenty two between Matthew Lowry and Elizabeth, his wife, of Goochland
County of the one part and Samuel Lowry of said County of the other part,
witnesseth that the said Mathew Lowry and Elizabeth, his wife, for and in
consideration of the sum of seventy five dollars of current money of
Virginia to them in hand paid by the said Samuel Lowry at or before the
ensealing and delivery of these presents ~ the receipt whereof is hereby
acknowledged have bargained and sold and by these presents do and each of
them doth bargain and sell unto the said Samuel Lowry his heirs and assigns
a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in Goochland County on the
middle road containing by a late survey seventeen acres and a half and
bounded as follows: To Wit: beginning at a white oak on said road, thence
with its meanders one hundred and thirty five poles to a ____ on Noel Lowry,
and Noel lines north five degrees west one hundred and six poles to a ____
chesnut oak on Noel Lowry and then north twenty one degrees west forty two
poles to the beginning to have and to hold this before granted land and
premises with all and singular the appurtenances unto this said Samuel Lowry
his heirs, executors, administrators or assigns forever and the said Mathew
Lowry and Elizabeth, his wife, for themselves, their heirs, executors,
administrators and assigns the before mentioned tract of land and premises
unto the said Samuel Lowry his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns
free from the claim or demand of any person claiming by from or under them
or either of them and against the claim of all other persons will warrant
and forever defend.  In witness whereof the said Mathew Lowry and Elizabeth
his wife have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and
year above written.

Goochland County to wit:
We John Ware & Nelson Burriss magistrates for the county aforesaid do hereby
certify that we did this day go to the wife of Matthew Lowry and examined
her privily & apart from her said husband touching the signing &
acknowledging the written indenture & after we had explained to her the
nature of the same she declared to us she did freely and voluntarily without
the pursuasions or threats of her said husband sign and acknowledge the
written Indenture & did also relinquish all her interest, right & title in &
to the lands & premises conveyed by the same to Sam'l Lowry, and is willing
that the same shall be recorded in this County Court & that she wishes not
to retract cert___ under our hands and seals this 28th day of February 1822.

Goochland County, to wit,
We John Ware & Nelson Burriss magistrates for the county aforesaid do hereby
certify that Matthew Lowry & Elizabeth, his wife, parties to the above deed
of conveyance to Samuel Lowry have duely acknowledged the same before us
this 28th day of February 1822 & desired us to certify their said
acknowledgement to the clerke of this county court of Goochland in order
that the ___ may be recorded.  Witness our hands & seals day & date as
above.  Jno. Ware, Nelson Burriss

At a monthly sessions Court held for Goochland County at the Courthouse on
Monday the 15th day of April 1822 ~  This indenture was presented in Court &
with the certificates of the acknowledgement of Matthew Lowry & Elizabeth,
