George Washington Lowry
1826, Goochland Co., VA

This Indenture made and entered into this first day of July in the year of
our Lord 1826, between George W. Lowry and Margaret, his wife, of the County
of Gooch'd of the one part and Mildred Hall of said County of the other
part:  Witnesseth.  That for and in consideration of the sum of twelve
dollars lawful money of VA the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have
granted, bargained, and sold unto the s'd Mildred Hall three acres of land
in woods to the same more or less bounded by Matthew Lowery, Priscilla Smith
and others, it being a part of the tract of land owned by the late Joel
Lowery, dec'd.  To have and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of land
supposed to contain three acres of land more or less, to her the said
Mildred Hall her certain attorney, her heirs and assigns forever.  And they
the s'd Geo. W. Lowery & Margaret, his wife, their heirs, ex's, etc. Do
warrant and by these presents, forever defend the right of s'd land to be
free from the right, claim or title of all persons whatever.  In Testimony
whereof the parties have here unto set their hands and affixed their seals
the day and year above written.

Goochland County to wit:
We John Ware and Nelson Burruss magistrates for the said county, do hereby
certify that George W. Lowry and Margarett, his wife, parties tot he within
deed of conveyance of real estate to Mildred Hall personally appeared before
us in our County aforesaid and acknowledged the same to be their act and
deed and desired us to certify their said acknowledgment to the Clerke of
the County Court of Goochland in order that the same may be recorded.  Given
from under our hands and seals this first day of July 1826.

Goochland County, To wit:
We John Ware and Nelson Burruss, Magistrates for the said County do hereby
certify that Margarett, wife of George W. Lowry, personally came before us
in our County aforesaid and was examined privily and apart from her said
husband touching her signing and acknowledging the within Indenture and
after having the nature of the same fully explained to her, she declared
that she had freely, voluntarily and without the threat or persuaions of the
said husband signed, sealed and delivered the same and that she wishes not
to retract it.  Given from under our hands and seals this 1st day of July
1826.

In Goochland County Court Clerks office 22nd July 1826.  This Indenture was
presented to me in my office and with the certificates of the
acknowledgments thereof, there on endorsed, admitted to record.
