GRAYSON COUNTY, VIRGINIA Samuel HAGUE, An. EDWARDS, James HILL John COULSON, Samuel MOODY Grayson December Court 1810. This deed from James HILL to James FARMER was proven by Samuel Hague and Samuel MOODY subscribing witnesses. And at January Court 1811 was fully proven by John COULSON another subscribing witness and ordered to be recorded. Teste M. Dickenson, Clerk  Indenture made this 30th day of October in the year of our Lord 1810 between James HILL of Grayson Co. in the state of Virginia, of the one part and James FARMER, of same county and state of the other part. Witnesseth: That the said James HILL for and in consideration of the sum of $360 to him in hand paid by the said James FARMER the receipt whereof the said James HILL doth hereby acknowledged, granted, bargained and sold, ____ and confirmed and by these presents doth bargain and sell, ____ and confirm unto the said James FARMER his heirs and assigns forever. One certain tract or parcel of land containing 200 acres be the same more or less lying and being in Grayson Co. on the waters of Crooked Creek and bounded as followeth viz: Beginning at 4 white oak saplings near Cranberry Creek, thence South 77 West 24 poles down Cranberry Creek crossing the same to the mouth of a branch coming on a black oak and maple, then up middle of said branch to the head coming on 2 white oaks, then South 27 East 22 poles to 4 Spanish Oak saplings, then North 64 E. 152 poles crossing Cranberry Creek at a White Oak and 2 black Oak saplings corner to Samuel EDWARDS land and with a line thereof N. 34 W. 150 poles to a double pine in a glade near a small branch, thus leaving EDWARD's line N. 50 E. 40 poles to a white oak corner to John COOK's land, and with a line thereof N. 28 W. 100 poles to a white oak on a hillside, thence leaving COOK's line S. 65 W. 46 poles to 2 white oaks and a Spanish Oak on a ridge S. 12 E. 60 poles to a white oak and Spanish Oak thence S. 78 W. 70 poles to the beginning. Together with all the priviledges and appertunances unto the said James FARMER his heirs and assigns forever. And the said James HILL him and his heirs the above granted land and premises with every part and parcel thereof against him and his heirs and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever unto the said James FARMER his heirs and assigns shall and will warrant and forever defend by those presents. Dickenson, Clerk Grayson Co., VA, Deed Book This Indenture made this 30th day of August 1799 Edward MCCOY of Hawkins County and the state of Tennessee of the first part and Joseph HILL of Rockbridge County and the Commonwealth of Virginia, Witnesseth: That for and in consideration of the sum value of $200 to the said John MCCOY paid in hand by the said Joseph HILL the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge and hath granted bargained sold alined and confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell aline and confirm unto the said Joseph HILL his heirs and assigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land containing 74 acres and 60 poles lying and being in the County of Grayson being part of a tract of land on Chestnut Creek waters of New River and is bounded as follows, viz: Beginning at 2 Spanish Oaks N. 20 W. 24 poles to a small W.O. S. 70. W. 42 poles to a chestnut S. 50 W. 22 poles to a Red Oak S. 30 W 30 to W.O. S. 50 W. crossing two branches 20 poles to 2 S. W.O. S. 85 W. 65 pole to a W. O. near a branch S. 54 W. 10 poles to a small W. O. in the fork of a branch S. 20 E. 35 poles up a branch to a large W. O. S. 40 E. 16 poles up said branch to a small W. O. N. 75 E. 120 poles to a Wh. O. sapling thence N. 14 E. 112 poles to the beginning, together with all the houses watercourses properties commodities tenements and appertuances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders rents issues and profits thereof also all the estate ___ title interest claim and demand whatever of the said John MCCOY of in and to the said premises or any part or parcel thereof, to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with the appertences unto the said Joseph HILL his heirs and assigns forever and the said John MCCOY for himself his heirs and assigns doth warrant all their ____ of the said tract of land to the said Joseph HILL his heirs and assigns forever against them the said John MCCOY his heirs and assigns or the heirs of any other person or persons whatsoever, whereof the said John MCCOY hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year first above written.
