Deed - James Stanhope Wood to James Kyle - Grayson Co., VA

Deed Book 4, p, 266, recorded 15Oct 1821
"Indenture made 9th day August 1821 between James Stanhope Wood 
ans Sarah his wife of the county of Botetourt and James Kyle of 
the same county....for $1248...."a tract or parcel being in the 
county of Grayson formerly Montgomery on Crooked Creek on the 
waters of new River being part of a large tract known and 
distinguished formerly by the name of old indian Fields which was 
granted to Col. James Wood by patent bearing a date on the 16 day 
of August in the year 1756 and is the same which was conveyed by 
deed bearing date eighth day of October in 1791 by Mary Wood to 
Suzanna Wood for life with remainder to said James Stanhope Wood 
and (John)Fouson Wood his brother.

In Book 5, p.199, made 16May1823, John F. Wood makes much the same 
indenture 
In Book 6, p 460, made 16April1833 the heirs of Robert Wood of 
Frederick Co,VA convey the remainder title to the 2800 acre 
patent. 
The heirs are as stated were "Comfort Wood widow and relict and 
doweress of the late Robert Wood dec'd, Robert W. Wood, Mary D. 
Washington, late Mary D. Wood, William Wood, Comfort Daly late 
Comfort Wood, Harriet Wood, Thomas Glafs (Glass) and Catherine his 
wife, late Catherine Wood, Sarah A. Wood and Julia Virginia Wood, 
children and heirs at law of Robert Wood dec'd of Frederick co,Va"

Mrs. Mary D. Washington, Ohio County, VA, signature is notarized 
by the Ohio CO JP 23 April 1833, 
Mrs. Catherine Glafs signature is made 16April1933 and all the 
others signed 4May1833. Also note: Mrs. Comfort Daily is spelled 
with an" i" in the signature area."
