War of 1812:
VIRGINIA SERVICE OF MICHAEL FARMER SO 19868

     Declaration was made in Lawrence county, Indiana 15th June 1871, by Michael
Farmer, age 76, a resident of Fayetteville, said county, that he is married;
that his wife's name was Jane Stevenson, (now dead), to whom he was married
in Rowan county, North Carolina 1819; that he was drafted in Capt Timothy 
Dalton's company at Grayson County Courthouse Virginia 1814, and was discharged 
at said courthouse in 1815, and he believes he served 60 days, that he has
lost his discharge; that he marched with his regiment to Norfolk, VA, but 
did not reach there; that he received a land warrant for said service for
160 acres.
     A note in the "Brief of Claim" was that it was rejected by reason of 
insufficient service.  Report from 3rd Auditor, shows that Michael Farmer
Sr and Jr served in Capt. Timothy Dalton's company, Virginia militia, from
Feb 8, to March 3, 1815.
