I James Briden of the County of Grayson & Stat of Virginia Being very weak condition & much indisposed to Bodily health but of as perfect mind & memory thanks be given to god for the same & caling to mind the mortality of my Body & knowing that it is appointed for all men ons to die. Do make and ordain this my last will & testemont that is to say principally & at first of all I giv and recommend my soul into the hands of god that gav it as for my Body I recommend it to the earth to be buried in a christian lik maner at the discretion of my friends or [ink blot]. And as touching such wordly estate wha with it hath pleased god to bless me in this life I give and devise and dispose of the same in maner and forms following furst shall proceed too devid a tract of land in With County stat of for said a tract of land whereon I formerly lived to be divided between my sun Eden Breden & sary King my dauter beginning as follows at James Caffees corner on the clift at two white oaks marked thens a strat line to a stooping spannish ok on a clift near whare the water of reed iland runs threw thee hill thens down said creek to a sicomore by thee wagon ford at a corner tree be it known furst that thee abov line devids the land and leevs Sary King the south west end of said land & further be it known that Edden is to hav thee ballance of my lands in that plase be it further known that I wish my lands in Grayson Conty to bee Eacullly devided betwene my too children as abov named Edden & Sary beit further known that thee lands With & Grayson as abov menshend is to bee my childrens at my deseas & not untel then be it further knowne that I giv and will my nigor boy tony to my sun Eden to hier out and hav his wages tell he is thirty fiv years of age then to be free which he is now twenty that he willhav fifteen years to serv. . be it further known that I give my nigor boy Robert to my dauter Sary untel he is thirty one he is supposed to be thirten years of age know & then to be free. I now shall name on the other side thee ballans & what is to be dun. I James Breeden leav Equallay as is roat on thee other sid and further due giv to Elizabeth Pait for heer troubles with me a soriel mare that is at my deseas I heare by constitut and a point my trusty friends Laurens Stephins Elick Sawyers & Peter Stepins all of With County & Stat for said to pay all jest dets & mak sale of all thee balans of my property as the law directs & when all dets ar payd the blaons is to be Ecualy divided betwene my sun and dauter Eden & Sary this my last will and testemony and I due heare by disalow rovok and uterly disanul all and ever other former testements Wills Leageses Bequests & Executries by me in any wise before named Willed and bequeathed ratifying & confirming this and no other to be my last will and Testement James (his B mark) Breden signed sealed published and delivered by the said James breden as and for his last will and testement in thee [resents of us who in his presents & in the presents of each other hav heare unto subscribed our names the day and dat a bov Writtten Aaron Bette Ishew (his X mark) Nun Reuben Chew Elizabeth (her X mark) Patee At a Court of Quartely Session held for the County of Wythe on Tuesday the 10th day of June 1817. This the last Will and Testament of James Bredon produced in Court proved by the oaths of Aaron Bette & Reuben Chew, two of the witnesses there to & ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of Lawrencce Stephens & Peter Stephens two of the Executors named therein who entered into bond with William Crawford & James Calfee their securities in the penalty of $4,000 condtioned as the law directs & took the oath of an Executor probate thereof is granted them in due form.
