Haney/Collier/Breeding/Runkle Indenture, 1842 - Greene Co. VA This Indenture made the 11th day of February in the year eighteen hundred and forty two, between Harriet Haney of the County of Rockingham and state of Virginia, Caswell Collier and Elizabeth his wife, Abner Breeding and Ellen his wife and William Haney of the County of Greene and state aforesaid of the one part, and Richard D Runkle of the County of Greene and state aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth: that the said Harriet Haney, Caswell Collier and Elizabeth his wife, Abner Breeding and Ellen his wife and William Haney in consideration of the sum of two hundred dollars to them in hand paid by the said Richard D Runkle at or before the ensealig, and delivery of these presents (the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged) have bargained and sold and by these presents all and each of them doth bargain and sell unto the said Richard D Runkle his heirs and assigns all their right and title which is the one seventh part in a certain tract or parcel of land, situated, lying, and being in the aforesaide county and state containing by estimation one hundred and thirty six acres be the same more or less and bounded as follows, beginning at a spanish oak hickory and black gum on the N E side of swift run thence up the several courses of said run 196 poles to several pointers on the same side of same run, thence N 35 degrees E 98 poles to two white oaks and a black gum corner to James Powell, thence S 56 degrees E 170 poles to a parcel of pine stumps near James Powell’s fence, thence S 35 degrees W 162 poles to the beginning. With all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging. To have and to hold the one seventh part of the aforesaid tract of land with the tenements and all and singular this and their promises before mentioned, or intended to be bargained and sold, and any part and parcel thereof, with every of their rights, members and appurtenances unto the said Richard D Runkle, his heirs and assigns forever, to and for the only purposes and behoof of him the said Richard D Runkle, his heirs and assigns forever and the said Harriett Haney, Caswell Collier, and Elizabeth his wife, Abner Breeding and Ellen his wife, and William Haney for themselves and their heirs the one seventh part of said tract or parcel of land with all and singular the premises & appurtenances, before mentioned unto the said Richard D Runkle his heirs and assigns free from the claim or claims of them the said Harriet Haney, Caswell Collier and Elizabeth his wife, Abner Breeding and Ellen his wife and William Haney, or either of them, their or either of their heirs, and of all and every person or persons, whatsoever, shall will and do warrant and forever defend by these presents.
