Rains/Mallory Deed, 1881 - Greene Co. VA Greene County Deed Book 4 page 787 This Indenture made this 18 day of Sept 1881 between Elizabeth Rains of the first part and Granville Rains and America Mallory of the second part, all of the county of Greene and State of Virginia. Witnesseth in consideration of the natural love and affection which the party of the first part has for and has toward the said Granville Raines and America Mallory and Jack Raines and Columbia Lamb who are her children as well as for and in consideration of one dollar to her in hand (receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged) she the said Elizabeth Raines has granted and does now by these presents grant unto the said Granville Raines and America Mallory, all and singular her estate, real and personal of the Grantor, upon the following, trust of the second part shall save and hold the property thereby granted for joint use and benefit of said Elizabeth Rains, Jack Rains and Columbia Lamb for and during their joint lives and during the life or lives of the survivors and upon the death of the one who shall last die, then the said property shall go absolutely to the said Granville Rains and America Mallory forever. Witnesseith following signature and seal the day and year first aforesaid. Elizabeth Rains Green County to Wit. I Z S Rowdabush a justice of the peace in and for the said county and state of Virginia, certify that Elizabeth Rains whose name is signed to the above deed dated the 18th day of Sept 1881, this day personally appeared before me in my said county and acknowledge the same.
