Deed - Orphans of Ephraim Davis to Fielding Brown
(Deed Book 7, page 62, Greensville Co.VA.)

THIS INDENTURE made this fourteenth day of March A.D. one thousand 
eight hundred and thirty two between Benjamin Maclin,William Abernathy,
Hinchia Mabry and Robert H.Goodrich (Commissioners acting under an 
order of the County Court of Greensville bearing date the sixth day of
March, instant) of the one part and Fielding Brown of the County of
Sussex of the other part. Witnesseth, that for and in consideration of
the sum of one thousand one hundred and eighteen dollars & 70 cents by
the said Fielding Brown to the said Commissioners viz: Benjamin Maclin,
William Abernathy, Hinchia Mabry and Robert H.Goodrich acting as 
aforesaid in hand paid at or before the sealing and delivery of these
presents, the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge, they the 
aforesaid Commissioners have granted,bargained,sold,aliened,enfeoffed
and confirmed, and by these presents, do grant, bargain, sell, alein,
enfeoff and confirm unto the said Fielding Brown, his heirs & assigns
forever a certain tract or parcel of land containing three hundred and
sixty eight acres be the same more or less, situated lying and being
in the aforesaid County of Greensville and bounded as follows viz: by
the land of Alex'r.W.Batte, the land belonging to the estate of Evans
M.Spencer dec'd. & the land that formerly belonged to Jessee Butts 
dec'd. etc. To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with
all the appurtenances thereunto belonging, to the said Fielding Brown
his heirs and assigns forever, and the said commissioners,viz: Benjamin
Maclin, Wm.Abernathy, Hinchia Mabry and Robt.H.Goodrich acting under 
the aforesaid order of the County Court of Greensville aforesaid, which
empowers them to sell the land belonging to the orphans of Ephraim 
Davis dec'd. do convey such title to the said granted premises to the
said Fielding Brown as is vested in them as Commissioners acting under
the order aforesaid therefore, against the lawful claim or demand of
all and every person or persons whatsoever, they will so for warrant
and forever defend by these presents. In witness whereof the said 
Commissioners viz: Benjamin Maclin, Wm.Abernathy, Hinchia Mabry & Robt.
H.Goodrich have hereunto set their hands & affixed their seals the day
& year above written.

In Greensville County Court Clerks office the 4th day of June 1832 This
Indenture of bargain and sale was acknowledged by the parties thereto
and admitted to record.
