HARRIS [brackets, line breaks, & surname capitalization mine] Greensville Co., VA, Deed Book 1, p. 248 26 Mar 1789 Thomas MORRIS to Gracey MORRIS [his widowed mother] Deed of Bargain & Sale Know all Men by these presents that I Thomas MORRIS of the City of Richmond, for and in Consideration of the Sum of Fifty pounds to me in hand paid by my Mother, Gracey MORRIS of the County of Greensville, the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge, Have bargained and Sold & by these presents do bargain and sell unto my said Mother Gracey MORRIS a Negro fellow named Stephen which Negro I received of the Estate of my Deceased father: To have and to hold unto the said Gracey MORRIS and her Assigns the said Negro Stephen to her only proper use and behoof forever.
