Deed - James H.Ridout, et al to John J.Ridout
(Deed book 13, page 26, Greensville Co.VA.)

This Deed made this the 27th day of December 1879 Between J.H.Ridout
and Rosa E. his wife formerly Ridout, J.B.Harrison and Mollie B. his 
wife formerly Ridout, John W.Wray and Sallie D. his wife formerly 
Ridout, P.L.Drummond and S.F his wife who was formerly Ridout and Delia 
Virginia Ridout, all of the first part and John J.Ridout of the County
of Dinwiddie party of the second part.Witnesseth: that in consideration
of the sum of one hundred Dollars, cash paid the said parties of the
first part, do grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the said John
Ridout with General Warranty, all that tract, piece, or parcel of Land
which was formerly the Land of the late David C.Ridout lying and being
in the County of Greensville Va.and containing one Hundred and thirteen
acres more or less, and joining the Lands of Bendall, Benjamin Ridout
and others, and lying on Jollys Creek. The parties of the first part,
covenant that they have the legal right to convey the said Land to the
Grantee, that they have done no act to encumber the said Land, that the
Grantee shall have quiet possession of the said land, free from all
encumberances, and that they the said parties of the first part will
execute such further assurances, of the said land as may be requisite.

Dinwiddie County to wit}
We C.E.Abernathy and R.P.Mason Justices of the peace in and for the
County aforesaid, do certify that J.H.Ridout & Rosa E. his wife, J.B.
Harrison & Mollie B. his wife, John W.Wray & Sallie D. his wife, P.L.
Drummond and Susan F. his wife whose names are signed to the writing
above bearing date on the 27th day December 1879 personally appeared
before us in the County aforesaid and being Examined by us privily and
apart from their husbands & having the writing aforesaid fully 
explained to them the said Rosa E.Ridout, Mollie B.Harrison, Sallie D.
Wray and Susan F.Drummond acknowledged the said writing to be their 
deed and that they had willingly Executed the same and does not wish
to retract it. Given under our hands this 29th day of Dec. Anno Domini
1879.

Dinwiddie to wit}
I, R.P.Mason Justice of the Peace in and for the County aforesaid in 
the State of Virginia do certify that Delia V.Ridout whose name is
signed to the writing hereto annexed bearing date on 27th day of Dec.
1879 has acknowledged the same before me in my County aforesaid.
Given under my hand this 3d day of July Anno Domini 1880.

In the Clerks office of Grensville County Court July 5th 1880. This
Deed from J.H.Ridout & wife and others to Jno.J.Ridout was this day
lodged in the said office and was together with the certificates
thereon admitted to record.
