Deed - Joel Thacker to Robert Thacker (Deed Book 7, page 164, Greensville Co. VA.) This Deed of Indenture made this 22nd day of January one thousand eight hundred and thirty four Between Joel Thacker and Rebecca his wife, of the first part and Robert Thacker of the second part. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar by the said Robert Thacker to them in hand paid before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, the said Joel Thacker and Rebecca his wife have bargained and sold by these presents do bargain and sell to the said Robert Thacker one certain Tract or Parcel of Land Lying on the South side of Nottoway River in the County of Greensville and bounded by the Lands of Thomas Spencer, William Sturdivant, Thomas Johnson and James A.Goodrich supposed to contain about Six hundred and Forty Acres together with all the appendage and appurtenances attached to or belonging to the same, to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of Land together with the appendages and appurtenances aforesaid to him the said Robert Thacker his heirs and assigns in fee simple forever and the said Joel Thacker and Rebecca his wife, for themselves, their heirs, Exor's., Admin's. and assigns to and with the said Robert Thacker his heirs and assigns have covenanted and agreed and do hereby covenant and agree the title to the said tract or parcel of Land to him the said Robert Thacker his heirs and assigns against the claim of all and every person or persons whatsoever forever to warrant and defend by these presents. In testimony whereof the parties of the first part have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals this day and year first above written. Joel(hisxmark)Thacker (Seal) Rebekah Thacker (Seal) Greensville County To wit, We Thomas Spencer and Will Kirby Justices of the peace in the County aforesaid in the State of Virginia do hereby certify that Rebecca the wife of Joel Thacker parties to a certain deed Bearing date on the 22nd day of January 1834 and hereunto annexed personally appeared before us in our County aforesaid and being examined by us privily and apart from her husband and having the deed aforesaid fully explained to her, she the said Rebecca acknowledged the same to be her act and deed and declared that she had willingly Signed Sealed and delivered the same and that she wished not to retract it.
