WALTON and wife Martha to Francis FURGERSON [FERGUSON] Deed of Bargain & Sale Greesville Sct. We John ROBINSON and A.T.B. MERRITT, Justices of the peace in the county aforesaid and State of Virginia do hereby certify that Martha WALTON wife of Drury D. WALTON parties to a certain deed bearing date 14:th day of February 1832 and hereunto annexed, personally appeared before us, in our county aforesaid, and being examined by us privily and apart from her husband, and having the deed aforesaid fully explained, she the said Martha WALTON acknowledged the same to be her act and deed, and declared she had willingly signed, sealed and delivered the same, and she wished not to retract it: Given under our hands & seals this 14:th day of February 1832 John ROBINSON JP A.T.B. MERRITT JP In Greensville County Court Clerks office the 15:th day of February 1832 this Indenture of bargain and sale was proved by the oath of Alex. T.B. MERRITT a witness thereto: And at a Court held for the county aforesaid the 5:th day of March 1832 the same was further proved by the oaths of John ROBINSON and Edward B. RYLAND witnesses & together with certificate annexed ordered to be recorded. Teste: E. MASON Clk Exam:d This Indenture made this 14.th day of February in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and thirty two between Drury D. WALTON and Martha his wife of Greensville County State of Virginia of the one part and Francis FURGERSON of the County and State aforesaid of the other part, Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of Six hundred and eighteen dollars in hand paid to the said Drury D. WALTON & Martha his wife by the said Francis FURGERSON the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge have given, granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents, do give, grant, bargain, sell, release and confirm unto the said Francis FURGERSON his heirs and assigns forever, all that tract or parcel of Land lying and being in the county of Greensville aforesaid on the North side of Fountain's creek, containing by estimation three hundred and nine acres more or less, reserving to Tabitha LANIER her life in the part assigned as dower, which may be seen by reference to the surveyor's books of this county, it being the same land which Drury LANIER died possessed of bounded as follows to wit: beginning at a Stooping red oak on Benjamin BRANSCOMB's line, thence along his line to Francis FURGERSON's own line, thence along his own line to said Drury D. WALTON: thence along said line to a red oak a corner to John CLARK, thence along his line to a laurel in a branch, thence to a pine, thence to an oak in a branch, thence down said branch as it meanders to Fountain's creek, thence down said creek as it meanders to a hiccory a corner to Thomas DILLIHAY[?], thence along his line to a white oak a corner to said Francis FURGERSON thence along his line to a pine, thence to a pine, and thence to the beginning; To have and to hold the said Land and premises above mentioned (with the exception of said Tabitha LANIER's dower) to the said Francis FURGERSON his heirs and assigns forever; and the said Drury D. WALTON & Martha his wife for themselves their heirs Ex:rs or Administrators do; shall and will, by these presents agree that will warrant and forever defend the right and title to the aforesaid tract of land and its appertenances against the claim or claims of themselves and their heirs and of every other person or persons whatsoever: In Witness whereof the said Drury D.
