     Death of Marcus W. Gay. 

  Died at his home in North Emporia on Sunday night last, Mr. Marcus W. Gay, 
in the forty-fourth year of his age.  His illness was of a comparably short 
duration and his many friends shocked to learn of his death.  The deceased 
had been a resident of Greensville County throughout his life and was highly 
regarded as an honorable, and industrious man. 

  He was survived by his wife and five children, most of the latter being of 
a tender age. 

  The remains were taken to the Emporia cemetery on Tuesday afternoon for 
interment, Rev. J.W. Heckman conducting the burial services.

b. Mar 1866*, Greensville Co., d. 1910, at home, North Emporia, 
interred in Emporia Cemetery,
