Brown, and estimable and lovely Christian woman, which occurred on last Sunday evening at 9:20, in the home of her daughter, Mrs. O. C. Wright, in Jarratt, Va., has cast over our community a pall of sadness and depression. Her life is interwoven with the sweetest relations of home and the noblest works of Christian beneficence-the unvarying comment heard on every hand was "a good woman gone." Mrs. Brown (nee Jarratt) was the widow of Rev. James D. Brown, of sainted memory, and her removal from our midst means a distinct loss to our village, and particularly to the church of which she was an active member. The funeral took place from High Hills Baptist Church on Tuesday afternoon. The large congregation present, and the numerous floral offerings, evidenced the high esteem in which she was held. The services were conducted by her pastor. The Rev. R. H. White, assisted by Dr. William H. Pilcher, Rev. Hugh Smith and Rev. R. W. Bagwell, all of whom paid beautiful tributes to her Christian character. To the loved ones she left behind the loss is irreparable; in the home circle the vacant chair can never be Filled. Three children survive her- Emma, the wife of Dr. O. C. Wright, Miss Bessye and Mr. C. M. Brown.
