GREENSVILLE COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - William Allen, 23 Nov 1815 ----¤¤¤---- IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I William Allen of Greensville County and state of Virginia being sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and sound memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament revoking all others heretofore made by me. Item: Imprimis: I give and bequeath unto my son Thomas Allen one negro man named Mingo, now in his possession. Item: I give and bequeath unto my son John Allen four children: Henry, Martha, John & Elizabeth, one negro man named Jacob to be equally divided among them after the death or marriage of their mother Fanny Allen. Item: I give and bequeath unto my son Hamlin Allen one negro man named Barrow, in his possession. Item: I lend unto my daughter Patsy Mangum during her life one negro woman named Bet & four children David and Mima, Cherry & Peter and after her death, to be equally divided among the lawful begotten heirs of her body. Item: I give and bequeath unto my son Henry Allen all the tract of land whereon I now live and one negro man named Hampton, now in his possession. Item: I lend unto my daughter Jane Whitfield one negro girl named Rachel during her life and after her death or marriage to be equally divided among the lawful begotten heirs of her body. Item: I lend unto my wife Mary Allen six negroes, to wit: Sue, Jack, Tab and two children Mary and Nanny and Kit and all my stock and household and kitchen furniture during her life a widow and after her death or marriage, then Sue, Jack, Tab, Mary, Nanny and Kit and all the remains of my estate to be sold and equally divided among my living children: Thomas, Hamlin & Henry Allen, Mary Shelton, Patsy Mangum and Jane Whitfield, but I lend unto Mary Shelten her part arising from the sale of the above named property at the death or marriage of my wife Mary Allen during her life, then to be equally divided among the lawful begotten heirs of her body. Lastly, I appoint and nominate my wife Mary Allen and my son Henry Allen my sole Executors to this my Last Will and Testament and my wish and desire is that there shall not be any sale of my estate at my death. Walton, the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded, and on the motion of Henry Allen, the Executor therein named who made oath thereto and together with John D. Martin and William S. Jeffries, his securities entered into and acknowledged their bond in the penalty of twenty thousand dollars conditioned as the law directs, Certificate is granted him for obtaining a Probate of the said Will in due form.
