The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net *********************************************************************** Greensville Co., VA, Will Book 1, pp. 432-33 dtd: 4 May 1801; rec: Sep 1801 abstracted by Matt HARRIS [surname capitalization, line breaks, & brackets mine] In the Name of God Amen I Allen CHAMBLISS of Greensville County and State of Virginia, being weak in Body but of sound, perfect mind and memory knowing myself to be mortal and that it is appointed for all Men once to die, do make and ordain this my last Will & testament And first it my will and desire that my Body which is mortal be commited [several words struck out] be decently interred after the manner of the Christian burial, and tuching what worldly Goods it has pleased God to bestow on me in this life I do dispose of in the following manner, Viz.t- After paying my Debts and settleing fairly my Books and Accounts and allowing my beloved Brother Bolling his due Stock and proportion of Profit, which he put in with me in the Merchantile business. I give and bequeath unto my said Brother Bolling my new Silver watch also one third part of my Estate then left to him and his heirs forever.- Item The balance then remaining of my Estate be equally divided between William CHAMBLISS, Henry, Mark, James, Lewis and John CHAMBLISS, Mary GREEN, Agness GREEN, Rebekah VICK, Jane CHAMBLISS, Sarah, Francis, Elizabeth and Priscilla CHAMBLISS~ the Sons and Daughters of Henry CHAMBLISS deceased to them and their heirs forever- And I do hereby revoke all other Wills and testaments made [page break] [p.] 433.) made by me previous to this my last Will and testament.- And lastly I do appoint my Brother Bolling CHAMBLISS and my friend Samuel JOHNSON whole and sole Executors to this my last Will and testament and furthermore my will and desire is that my Executor give no Bond nor security to this my last Will and testament.- As witness my hand and Seal this fourth day of May Eighteen Hundred and One.- Allen CHAMBLISS (L.S.) And on the Motion of Bolling CHAMBLISS one of the Executors therein named who made Oath thereto and with Lucy CHAMBLISS, his security entered into and acknowledged Bond in the Penalty of Five Thousand Dollars with condition as the Law directs Certificate was granted him for obtaining a Probate thereof in due form.
