GREENSVILLE COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Braxton Davis, 25 Nov 1803

IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I Braxton Davis of the County of Greensville and
state of Virginia being sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory,
thanks be given unto God, calling into mind the mortality of my body and
knowing that it is appointed for all men to die, I do make and ordain this my
last will and testament, that is to say:

Principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of
almight God that gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in
a decent christian burial, and my estate to be left in the manner and form as
followeth, that is to say:

I lend to my dear beloved wife Elizabeth Davis, during her life as my widow,
all my negroes, namely man named Frank and a woman named Hannah and a boy
named Peter and all of my stock of each sort and household and kitchen
furniture and for her to keep the children and give them schooling and after
the death of my wife for fifty dollars to be raised out of the estate for
Patsy Read and then the balance to be equally divided between my two children
without a sale, Elizabeth Davis, my wife, and Timothy Allen I leave Executors
to this my Last Will and Testament revoking all other Wills made by me
heretofore made.

IN WITNESS whereof (I have here) unto set my hand and seal this 25th November
1803.
