David Rideout Will (Will Book 9, page 203, Greensville Co. VA.) In the name of God, Amen, I David Rideout of the County of Greensville and the State of Virginia being of sound mind and memory, but in feeble health, do make this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following to wit; First my will and desire is that my funeral expenses and just debts to be first paid. Secondly, After the payment of my funeral expenses and just debts I give to my four daughters, namely Mabel Sammons, Amanda Rideout, Mary Sammons, and Susan O.Barnes, each bed to them and their lawful heirs forever. Thirdly, I give to my son Jesse James Rideout all the remainder of my estate, both real and personal to him and his lawful heirs forever. Fourthly, I hereby constitute and appoint my son Jesse James Rideout, executor of this my Last Will and Testament hereby revoking all other wills heretofore made by me. Short one of the subscribing witnesses thereto and continued for further proof. And at July term 1871, the Last Will and Testament of David Rideout dec'd was this day fully proved by the oath of Sarah E. Lanier, a subscribing witness thereto and ordered to be recorded.
