Cemetery Location:  2.4 miles northwest of South Boston, Virginia on Route #682, 
                    thence 14.4 miles west on Route #659, on the north side of 
                    the road.
                    Halifax County


DATE:

1867.

OWNERS:

Beverly Barksdale II, 1853
Beverly Barksdale III, 1884
Susan Elizabeth Barksdale, 1912
Ruth and Elizabeth Barksdale, 1929 to the present date (1937).

DESCRIPTION:

This graveyard is located about two hundred yards northwest of the Barksdale 
home.  It is enclosed with a lawn fence.  There are shade trees on the outside 
of the fence, shrubs and flowers are planted near the graves.  This graveyard is 
well kept.

HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE:


There are many graves here of the Barksdale family, but not all of them have 
markers.  The inscriptions are as follows:

Beverly Barksdale II
Feb. 1, 1808
June 24, 1867


Susan Elizabeth Hightower
Wife of Beverly Barksdale III
Dec. 16, 1844
Dec. 12, 1929


William H. Barksdale


Susan Elizabeth Barksdale

There last two are the son and daughter of Beverly Barksdale III.
There graves have markers but no inscriptions.
