Ragland Cemetery Location: .4 mile south of South Boston, Virginia on Route #501, thence 6 miles east on Route #58, thence 1.5 miles south on Route #601, thence .5 mile west on private road, leading to house. Halifax County DATE: Prior to 1859. OWNERS: John W. Sutpin, 1859 J.E. Ragland, Jr. John W. Owen, 1868 Mary W. Smith, 1919 Ada W. Rollins, 1919, present owner (1937). DESCRIPTION: Only two graves in this graveyard have markers, although there are older graves. The cemetery is enclosed with a picket fence. It is better kept than the average home cemetery. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The following are the inscriptions on the only two markers: In Memory of John W. Sutpin Consort of Martha Ann Sutpin Born Nov. 21, 1817 Died June 21, 1864 of a wound received at Staunton Bridge in defense of his home and country. In Memory of Martha Ann Singleton Wife of Dr. J.W.
