18 Dec 1857

18 December 1857 Surveyed off of the lands of Peter Reves decd 121 acres of 
land in the county of Halifax as his widows dower whereof and Bounded as 
follows viz Beginning at a white oak the Concord Road corner to Tucker Thence 
his N60 W 50 poles to a creek Th N 39 W 13 poles to a Pine Th new lines S 48½ 
W 29 poles to a Black Gum Th Sta W 19 poles to the mill road Th along that as 
traverses 74 poles to a Pine Th off the road S 24 W 78 poles crossing two 
branches to a Stake Th S 61 E 136 poles to the Concord road Th down that as it 
traverses 166 poles to the Beginning.

We the undersigned being commissioners appointed by a decree of the County 
Court of Halifax to us directed bearing date 1857 and herewith returned have 
this 18th day of December 1857 after going upon and Viewing the lands of Peter 
Reves decd have layed off and allotted to Mrs. Lucy Reves the widows 121 acres 
including the mansion house and other improvements as her dower thereof.  For 
a more particular description together with the courses and distances we beg 
lease to refer the court to the annexed Plat and Certificate of the Surveyor 
all which is respectfully reported and Submitted.

At a court held for the County of Halifax the 23rd day of May 1859
          The within written plat and courses of the dower land of Lucy Reaves 
(sic Reves) was returned to Court and ordered to be recorded.
