This indenture made this 15th day of July in the year of our Lord
eighteen hundred and two by and between James M. ADAMS and Joshua ADAMS
of the County of Halifax of the one part and Mead ANDERSON of same
county of the other part  WITNESSETH that whereas the said James M.
ADAMS and Joshua ADAMS in consideration of the sum of twenty pounds
current money of Virginia in hand paid to said James M. ADAMS and Joshua
ADAMS the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge and from the ?same?
and every part thereof exonerate acquit and discharge the said Mead
ANDERSON his heirs [illegible] hath granted bargained sold and confirmed
and by these presents doth give grant bargain sell and confirm in fee
simple a certain tract or parcel of land containing by estimation fifty
six acres, be the same more or less it being two fifths or two shares of
the tract of land Nipper ADAMS now lives on and lying in the County of
Halifax on Fall Creek and being the land held by the said James M. ADAMS
and Joshua ADAMS as heirs and representatives of Lucy ADAMS, dec'd.  To
have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances
unto the said Mead ANDERSON his heirs or assigns in fee simple against
the lawful claim or demand of the said James M. ADAMS and Joshua ADAMS
their heris and all and every other person or persons whatever.  In
witness whereof the said James M. ADAMS and Joshua ADAMS have hereunto
set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year first above
written.
