LDS Microfilm Number 0031876 July 1826 87 This Indenture made this nineteenth day of November in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and twenty five between Barnard Farmer of the county of Halifax & state of Virginia of the one part and John F. Farmer of the same county and state aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that July 1826 88 the P. Barnard Farmer for this in consideration of the natural love and affection which I have to the said John F. Farmer as well as for the further consideration of one dollar to me in hand by the said John F. Farmer at or before them sealing and always of these present the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have given granted and by these present do give and grant unto the said John F. Farmer his heirs ____ & assigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the county of Halifax aforesaid on the drafts of runaway creek and containing by late survey one hundred acres be the same more or less and bounded as followeth. Beginning at a gum pointer in Elijah Tucker line thence with his S. 44 west 44 pole to Elbors in line thence on the same line So. 38. Were 79 pole to pose oak ____ a new line N 71 were 124 pole to maple thence N 28 _____123 pole to Jowell Tucker's line thence his line S 79 East 32 pole to Elbow thence the said Tod W. Tuckers line S 66 East 120 pole to the beginning. To have and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of land with all things as pertaining this do to the only proper are and behalf of him the said John F. Farmer his heirs and assigns forever and the said Barnard Farmer do hereby bond himself his heirs & to warrant and forever defend a good and lawful rights of letter to the land aforesaid unto the said John F. Farmer his heirs and assigns forever in wellness whereof I the said Barnard Farmer have hereunto sign my hand and seal this day and date first above written. LDS Microfilm Number 0031876 October 1825 391 This Indenture made this 1st day of October in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eighteen Hundred and Twenty Five between Barnett Farmer & Polly his wife of the one part and Richard Thornton of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Barnett Farmer for and in consideration of the past and future down of thirteen hundred and twnty four dollars to him in hand paid by him the said Richard Thornton. The receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath given grantee bargained and sold and by these present doth give, grant, bargain and sell unto the said Richard Thornton, his heirs October 1825 392 and assigns forever one certain tract piece or parcel of land situated lying and being in the county of Halifax on both sides of the East fork of Runnaway Creek containing by estimation two hundred and seventy four acres to the same more or less and bounded as follows. By the lines of John F. Farmer, Tod Witacker, Shedwreck Baker, William T. Reves, Peter Reves, Elijah Tucker, etc to have and to hold the above discribed tract, piece or parcel of land with all and singular the rights members and appurtenances thereunto belonging in any case apportioning to him the said Richard Thornton his heirs and assigns forever and the said Barnett Farmer and Polly his wife for themselves and their heirs doth covenant and agree to and with the said Richard Thornton his heirs and assigns that they the said Barnett Farmer and Polly his wife will warrant and forever defend a good and carefree rights & title to the above discribed tract, piece or parcel of land against the claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever in testimony whereof the partys have set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year above mentioned. Jennings and Peter Reves Justices of the Peace in the county aforesaid do hereby certify that Barnett Farmer a party to a certain deed bearing date on the forth day of October 1825 and hereto annexed, personally appeared before us in our county of aforesaid and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed and desired us to certify said acknowledgement to the Clerk of the County Court in order that the said deed may be recorded. Jennings Justices of the Peace in the county aforesaid do hereby certify that Polly Farmer the wife of Barnett Farmer parties to a certain deed bearing date on the forth day of Oct 1825 and hereto annexed, personally appeared before us in our County aforesaid and being examined by us freely and apart from her husband and having the deed aforesaid fully explained to her. The said Polly Farmer acknowledged the same to be her act and deed and declared that she had willingly signed sealed and delivered the same and that she wished not to retract it.
