        This indenture made 23rd day of jan in the year of our lord 1823
Martial Cousins and  Lucinda his wife of the county of Pittsylvania of
the one part and Jarrett W COOK of the county of Halifax of the other part,
witnessed that the said Martial COUSINS and Lucinda his wife in condition
of the sum of 259.00 of lawful money of this commonwealth of the State of
Virginia, it being the land Peter COUSINS dec'd bought of the estate of
John COOK dec'd which the MARSHALL COUSINS and wife and three brothers WILLIS
G COUSINS, RICHARD H COUSINS, PETER G COUSINS, are entitled to in
consideration of the death of my father PETER COUSINS dec' of Halifax co VA
my part of 156 and 1/2 acres be the same more or less also my part of my
grandmother Elizabeth COOKs dower of 152 acres be the same more or less that
is hereby tobe conveyed which land is lying on the waters of Cave Creek and
adjoining the land on the East of jarrett COOK and the said James SHelton
