Deed - Reves to Ferrell
Halifax County, Virginia

24 Aug 1837

KNOW all men by these presents that I Peter Rives (sic Reves) of the county of 
Halifax State of Virginia for and in consideration of the natural love & 
affection which I have to Gennett Ferrell my Granddaughter of the County & 
State aforesaid as well as for the further consideration of one dollar to me 
in hand paid by the said Gennett Ferrell at or before the ensealing & delivery 
of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have given and 
granted & by these presents do give & grant unto the said Gennett Ferrell and 
to the heirs of her body one negro Girl Mary with her increase about ten years 
old to have & to hold the said negro Girl Mary with her increase unto her the 
said Gennett Ferrell to the heirs of her body and to their assigns forever - 
and the said Peter Rives (sic Reves) for himself his exetors admtors and 
assigns the said Girl Mary - unto the said Gennett Ferrell & to the heirs of 
her body against the claim of him the said Peter Rives (sic Reves) her heirs 
and assigns & against the claim or claims of all and every person whatsoever 
will warrant & forever defend in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & 
affixed my seal this 24th day of August 1837.

The foregoing deed
of gift not to take                     Peter Reves (Seal)
effect until the death of
the giver - Peter Rives (sic Reves)

At a court held for Halifax County the 22nd day of February 1841.
         The within written Indenture deed of Gift was presented in Court and 
acknowledged by the within named Peter Rives (sic Reves) a party thereto to be 
his act and deed and ordered to be recorded.
