War of 1812 Pension Abstract, Archer Farmer, 1850 - Halifax Co. VA VIRGINIA SERVICE OF ARCHER FARMER AND NANCY FARMER WO 8933 and WC 3969 bounty land warrant 62260 for 40 acres in 1850 and No 2672 for 120 acres in 1855. He enlisted Aug 30 1814 and was discharged Nov 22 1814. Served under Capt Isaac Medley in the Virginia Militia. Resided 1852 and 1855 in Halifax Co., VA and the widow resided in 1872 in said county at Post Office Newsferry, VA. Maiden name of widow was Nancy Wilson, and they married Nov 16 1810 in said county and soldier died there 1855 in Halifax County, VA. The widow died about 1875. Declaration was made by Nancy Farmer, age 83, in Halifax County, Virginia, March 26, 1872 and states she is the widow of Archer Farmer; that he served under Capt Isaac Medley at Norfolk VA and was discharged in Washington DC 1813. Witness to her signature are Archer H. Farmer and Joseph C. Farmer. A death certificate is filed by the clerk of Halifax county VA 1872, showing Archer Farmer died in Halifax co, VA , leaving a widow Nancy Farmer. (date of death was not stated.) Also, the marriage record is filed by County court clerk of Halifax county VA showing Archer Farmer and Nancy Wilson were married by Charles Lovelace, [July Nov 16 1810]. A letter in the file from RT Pierce post master of Newsferry VA, 1878 shows that 1878 stating Nancy Farmer widow of Archer Farmer died about two years previous. Archer H. and Joseph E. Farmer are her sons, the former is now living within the delivery of Mountain Road, PO Halifax Co, Va and the latter within the delivery of his said office; that she resided with Archer H. Farmer. The soldier Archer Farmer filed declaration in Halifax Co VA 1852 and 1855, stating about the same as stated previously.
